‘Taylor Town’ Liverpool’s plans for Taylor Swift’s Eras tour

Taylor Swift is bringing her Eras tour to Liverpool for 3 nights this summer, playing at the iconic Anfield Stadium. Knowing the impact that this will have on the city, a working group has been set up to oversee all aspects of the event and to maximise safety for all concert goers.

Taylor Swift has not played a date in the UK for 5 years, but that doesn’t mean she has been away from Liverpool for that long as last year she chose the city to film the video for her single ‘I Can See You’. She posted about the video shoot online and said she had been ‘so proud’ of the Liverpool-based shoot.

Taylor Swift coming to Liverpool is a real coup for the city still riding high on the success of hosting the Eurovision Song Contest. Taylor is playing dates in London’s Wembley Stadium, Scotland’s Murrayfield Stadium, the Principality Stadium in Cardiff and the Aviva Stadium in Dublin and at Anfield Stadium.

Liverpool is the only venue outside of the nation’s capitals to host the event. Knowing the number of visitors this will bring to the city, a working group, dubbed ‘Taylor Town’ has been set up. The working group will be looking at issues around safety, this will be a predominantly younger audience, accommodation, and transport. There will be no parking at the stadium and so options for travel have to be looked at. One idea is to use the soccer bus service that runs on matchdays.
